Hi, I’m Nancy J. Farrier and welcome to the Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt. I’ve been making up stories since I was very young. I’m published in fiction and nonfiction. My focus is Contemporary romance and Romantic Suspense. Many of my books are set in the Southwest and West, both in Arizona and Southern California. I love  bringing stories to life and injecting bits of God’s truth into my fiction. You can learn more about my books on my website, and hear about new releases by following me on Bookbub or Amazon.

What the book is about: Pierce Forester is ready for a fresh start as the new head of his family ranch—and guardian of his late friend’s daughter. But what he doesn’t expect is to find the ranch in financial trouble…or to run into his former love, Silvia Rowland. Recently widowed, travel writer Silvia is back in town temporarily to heal from the loss of her family. Despite their tumultuous past, Silvia agrees to help Pierce save his ranch, and soon, old feelings ignite once more. But after so much loss, can they overcome their grief for a second chance at a future together?

Let me share one of the stories from a camping trip. My kids loved smores at the campfire, so we always took the graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars to the mountains with us. One year, we had a squirrel in our campground who was obsessed with our chocolate bars. This squirrel climbed on our table several times, even when we were right there. Talk about a chocoholic. We named her Xena, the Warrior Squirrel, and we had to watch our chocolate carefully.

One afternoon, the makings for smores were laid out, and Xena scurried up on the table. Before we could stop her, she grabbed a wrapped chocolate bar—the whole thing—and ran with it. My kids chased her through the campsite, but she was determined to keep her prize. They followed her to a tree but she outpaced them, getting too high to reach, still carrying that chocolate bar that dwarfed her body. She ran about 20 feet up the tree before she lost her grip on the candy and it fell to the ground. We’ve often laughed about Xena and her obsession with chocolate.
