I am so very excited to have the rights back to some of my earlier published works. Over the next few months I will be updating and formatting these books so I can have them available for you. They were fun to write, and I’m sure I will enjoy the process of getting them out to readers again.
The first story I’ve revamped is a novella, a Harvey House story set at the Grand Canyon. The story take place in the early 1900’s. Lillian comes from poverty and desires to marry a man of means. Franklin comes from a wealthy family and is tired of the constant discontent with what they have.
Writing Lillian and Franklin’s story gave me the opportunity to explore the meaning of true wealth. Where does wealth come from? What does it mean to have wealth? Is it possible to be poor and happy? Is it possible to be wealthy and content?
In my dedication in The Richest Knight, I reference my grandparents. They raised eleven children on a small rocky farm in the Midwest. They worked hard for everything they had. Their children were as ornery as the day is long, but they grew up to be exceptional people. My grandfather was noted for saying he was a millionaire because God blessed him with so many children. I love that heritage.
The other inspiration for my story was my Aunt Ruth. Despite hardships in her life, she always had a cheerful attitude and a strong spirit. When she retired, she chose to work at the Grand Canyon, living in a dorm at first, doing more menial jobs despite her background and experience. She amazed me as she hiked around the canyon with the energy of a two-year-old. Her enthusiasm for life and for the canyon she loved made writing The Richest Knight a true pleasure. When I see this novella, I think of my Aunt Ruth and her days at the Grand Canyon.
The Richest Knight will release in early June. I hope you enjoy Franklin and Lillian’s story as they explore the idea of true wealth and how God fits into their lives.
